Our Vision

Wormald Signature Properties is a division of Wormald Homes that specializes in building luxury homes in the places we grew up in and love — established sought-after neighborhoods with excellent school districts and close proximity to the best retail venues around the DC beltway, including places like Wildwood Shopping Center in Bethesda, Maryland, built by our grandfather. Bob Wormald grew up in Arlington, Virginia, Myra Wormald grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, and the Wormald sons and daughter attended Churchill High School and grew up near the Potomac Village in Maryland. Many of the homes in our hometowns, and surrounding neighborhoods, are now obsolete in design and in disrepair. The vision of Wormald is to rejuvenate those neighborhoods we love by building beautiful new homes that meet the needs of this generation – homes where new families can plant themselves and flourish just as we did decades before.

From our family to yours, we wish you the very best,
The Wormald Family.

Our Process

  • Step 1: Contact Us

Fill out and submit our Consultation Request Form above and someone will contact you for an initial consultation.
  • Step 2: Program Development and Lot Selection

Using our program develop guide, we will clearly document your goals, desired house type, features, rooms, and other program items. With this information we will be able to provide guidance on selecting and/or evaluating lots. If you don’t already own a lot or have one under contract, options include searching yourself, using your own/one of Wormald’s preferred realtors, or selecting one of the home sites we already have in our inventory. Ask for our free e-brochure: “Basics of Infill Homesite Selection” to get started. When you locate a property, we will provide a free consultation and online evaluation of the site. We will explore zoning issues and setbacks, grading, house siting, and its general suitability.
  • Step 3: Home Site Evaluation and Home Plan Concept

With your home site chosen, a Design Services Agreement will be prepared which provides for an in-depth evaluation and an on-site review. At this stage, we also conduct a plan review consultation to explore home plans that we have available that will fit and accentuate its unique characteristics. If we do not have a home design that works or can be simply-modified to meet your needs, we can work with you to create a new design. At this stage, concept plans and a budget will be developed.
  • Step 4: Finalizing Details and Budget

With a home concept plan completed, home site selected and budget range in place, we will finalize selections, features, specifications and/or allowances, refine the architectural design, and coordinate with the site design to advance the project toward construction. Through our research, we know the most popular luxury finishes and features; these finishes and features provide a good starting point and often simplify the process. After finalizing these details, a turn-key proposal will be presented and all the details confirmed. The contract and financing can now be finalized.
  • Step 5: Permit and Construction

Building and site permit applications and submissions will be prepared and filed, and we will track and coordinate to secure all necessary permits. Remaining selections are then finalized, and construction will start! At the kick-off meeting, you will be introduced to your site superintendent who will answer any questions you have.
  • Step 6: Quality Control and Beyond

As construction continues, Wormald will complete or coordinate quality control inspections, lender inspections, and county inspections. Client walk-throughs are welcome during construction; a pre-settlement final occupancy walk-through and new home orientation will be completed with the purchaser. Our in-house warranty department will service the home.
